Thermoelectric Cooler Peltier TEC1-12706 (40x40mm)

Peltier Module – TEC1‑12706 (40 × 40 mm)

Overview:

The TEC1‑12706 is a widely used thermoelectric (Peltier) cooling module based on the Peltier effect. When powered with appropriate current, one side cools down while the other heats up, making it ideal for localized cooling, temperature control, and DIY refrigeration in electronics, instrumentation, and small appliances.

Key Features:

  • Compact 40 × 40 mm square, ~3.8 mm thick

  • Rated for 12 VDC @ ~6 A

  • Maximum temperature difference (ΔT) up to 66–75 °C

  • Cooling capacity up to ~50–60 W

  • Solid-state with no moving parts

  • Works for both cooling and heating

  • Requires heatsinking on the hot side for safe operation

Technical Specifications:

How It Works:

Apply DC voltage, and the cold side absorbs heat while the opposite side releases it. Ideal configurations:

  • With heatsink + fan on hot side for optimal cooling

  • Insulation to prevent condensation

  • Optionally reversible for heating

Applications:

  • Mini fridge or beverage cooler DIY

  • Electronic cooling (e.g., CPU, lasers, sensors)

  • Temperature stabilization (e.g., photonics, medical)

  • Scientific experiments or incubators

  • Hobbyist and educational projects
