PNP Transistor – BC327

🛠️ PNP Transistor – BC327 (TO‑92 Package)

Overview

The BC327 is a reliable PNP bipolar transistor designed for general-purpose switching and amplification tasks. With a current rating of up to 800 mA, voltage tolerance up to 45 V, and low noise characteristics, it excels in audio circuits, microcontroller interfaces, and push-pull amplifier stages

Key Features

  • PNP silicon transistor in TO‑92 package

  • Current capacity: –800 mA

  • Voltage ratings: VCEO –45 V, VCBO –50 V, VEBO –5 V

  • Power dissipation: 625 mW

  • DC current gain (hFE): 100–630 depending on variant

  • Transition frequency (fT): ~100 MHz

  • Noise-reducing design suited for audio use

Emitter → +V supply Collector → Load → GND Base → Arduino digital pin via 1 kΩ resistor
  • Pull the base LOW to turn ON the transistor

  • Use a flyback diode across inductive loads (e.g., motors, relays)

  • Ensure shared ground/reference between circuits

Applications

  • High-side switching of DC loads

  • PNP stage in complementary push-pull audio amplifiers (pairs with BC337/BC338)

  • Relay and LED control

  • Audio preamp and buffer circuits

  • Sensor activation circuits
